30 Dec 2015

Hey guys only a short one this week as I've been ill and had a tonne of other things to do. This is a run down of my new years eve outfit and where I got it from, including tips for what to team it with. First up is my black Topshop fur gilet, this is a staple winter 2015 piece and I have worn it to death since I bought it, so it only seemed logical to bring it out for New Year. As a shaggy version of the traditional soft fur gilet it adds a bit of grunge to the outfit. Perfect for my bar hopping plans for the evening. It's also super warm despite having no sleeves.

I've decided to team the gilet with Topshop's velvet wrapover body-con dress in the navy blue colour. It also comes in a burgundy colour but I thought it would be a little too festive for new year. The cut of the dress is extremely flattering, coming in at my smallest point (my waist) and the wrap over detail means it looks extremely flattering on the hips creating the illusion of a perfect hour glass figure. The velvet glams up the outfit making it perfect for a night on the town.

Lastly I have teamed the outfit with a pair of Topshop platforms I bought a few years back, these have treated me very well and go with almost all my going out outfits. I'm not normally a fan of heels as I find them too uncomfortable but with the platform these are really comfy to wear.

As of yet I haven't decided what accessories to put with this outfit but I'm thinking maybe a choker or chunky necklace of some sort. Although I think this outfit can work easily without any at all. For my makeup I'm going to do a nice smoky eye, adding a hint of blue to match with the colour of my dress. Probably Topshop's mono eyeshadow in Thermite. Then a dark lippy in probably a dark purple in keeping with the dark colour scheme of the whole outfit.

Again sorry for the shortness of the post, I hope everyone has an amazing night no matter what you do. Here's to a great year and an even greater one to come,

Lauren Eliza x
